An agreed set of questions designed to ensure that every social care employer provides information on their workforce across the country. This will be collected by Skills for Care and kept securely in line with the Data Protection Act.
Why do we need it?
We still don't know how many of the estimated 1.5 million social care workers in the UK are based in the south west. What we do know is that an astonishing 65% of the total workforce in this region are in some way involved in social care, and that we need more funding in the area to support care providers and workers in standards and training.
What's in it for me?
- The NMDS-SC online is a useful tool, you can generate various reports such as percentages of staff that have completed induction, compare salary rates with similar organisations in your area and much more!
- Generate the Data Set part of your AQAA report with one click, saving you time with complex calculations.
- You will be eligible for TSI Funding when it becomes available
- GSCC Registration - Data stored in the NMDS-SC will help you manage the information required by GSCC when this legislation is introduced. Talks are in progress to ensure compatibility between NMDS-SC and the data needed by GSCC.
- The information you contribute will help to influence future funding for the region, including money for training programmes.
How to complete/update the NMDS-SC
Create your NMDS-SC account from scratch online (for those who have not done NMDS-SC before)
- Go to www.nmds-sc-online.org.uk and click on ‘create an account'. Fill in the details requested, including an email address you can access easily.
- Shortly you will receive an email acknowledging your application for an account, and soon after that another one which will tell you to go ahead and log in again with the username and password you set up. Click on the link in the email you were sent.
- Log into NMDS-SC and enter your full establishment details. Once you have entered all the information click ‘finish' then ‘home' if necessary to return to the home page.
- (Optional) Look at the menu on the left hand side and click on ‘users'. If you wish, you can add another person who will be able to update your NMDS-SC so that the task can be shared. This user can be deleted later if required.
- Again on the menu, go to ‘my workers' and add your staff members' details individually (this does not have to be done all at once - you can go in and add more later).
- Update the NMDS-SC whenever the profile of the establishment changes; a change in staff, qualifications, services offered, number of service users, etc. Remember, ideally the NMDS-SC should be a reflection of what is going on with your business at any given time.
Update your NMDS-SC account online (for those who created an account via a paper questionnaire)
- Check that you have the username, password and NMDS-SC Identifier that were sent to you by Skills for Care. If not you will need to ring the helpdesk 0845 873 0129 and ask to be sent them again.
- Go to www.nmds-sc-online.org.uk and click on ‘login'. Enter the username and password as they appear on your letter from Skills for Care. If you have any problems with passwords, ring the helpdesk for advice. Once they are accepted, you will be asked for your NMDS-SC Identifier. You can then change the login details to ones you can remember - write these down and keep them handy.
- You can then follow steps 3 onward as above.
