Leadership and Management Development grant funding

We are delighted to announce that following a successful tender bid, we are now able to offer Leadership and Management Development grant funding through our Leadership and Management Advisory Service (LMAS) within Train to Gain.

We will be accepting referrals from 3rd November. If you are working with businesses who may qualify for the grant funding, we will be happy to work with you, to ensure they are eligible and that the solutions you will be delivering, can be supported with the grant funding available.

Eligibility
All businesses must meet the following criteria:

  • Between 10 and 249 employees. This applies to the whole company, not an individual site.
  • Private, franchise, public and voluntary bodies.
  • Not benefited from Leadership and Management grant funding since April 2006.

What process is involved in identifying leadership and management needs and solutions?
The owner/senior manager is offered an in-depth diagnostic to identify leadership and management development plan (LMD) needs which leads to the co-creation of a personal development plan (PDP) by a specialist Leadership and Management Advisor and the employer.  This PDP seeks to outline and address LMD needs and also to identify challenging and innovative solutions to the LMD needs.

What kind of training and development solutions can be funded?
All solutions are aimed at developing leaders and managers within the business. In many organisations, this will be the MD, or a director. However, if it can be shown that a particular manager has substantial leadership responsibility, then they may be eligible for this funding.

The key factor is:
The solutions must provide development that will increase the leadership capability of the business leader and his/her senior managers (if included), and match the business and personal development needs identified.

There will be a wide range of solutions that businesses will want to access. These will include:

  • Accredited management qualifications
  • Coaching /mentoring
  • Customised management development packages

Please note that ALL development solutions must be at least 6 hours or more.

The funding cannot be used for:

  • Mandatory or statutory training (e.g. Health and Safety)
  • Technical training (e.g. IT skills)
  • Assessment costs for accreditation such as ISO or IiP

Grant Funding
Up to £1000 for the cost of leadership and management activity is available to support owners/senior managers in eligible organisations.  A further £500 on a matched funding basis, i.e. for an investment of £1,500, a grant of £1,000 will be awarded upon receipt of payment evidence (receipted invoice).

If the full funding is not taken up by the first beneficiary, then other managers can be included dependent upon the business needs and further PDPs being produced.

If you want to check whether your client, or the solutions you are discussing with them, will attract the grant funding, please contact the enquiry team on Train to Gain on 08456 047 047

What do I do now?
Please complete the referral form by clicking here and email it to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   We will then contact the organisation to complete the remaining paperwork and confirm their eligibility for the grant funding. Please be aware that grant funding is dependant on confirmation from our contracts team. This confirmation will be sent directly to the employer.

Please note that all training must be started within 90 days of the application being completed.

We look forward to receiving your referrals after 3rd November 2008.
