Workforce Development Fund (WDF) PDF Print E-mail

This is a new funding stream from the Department of Health disseminated by Skills for Care, its aim is to support the ongoing professional development of staff across the Adult Social Care Sector through vocational qualifications. It replaces what was previously called the Training Strategy Implementation Fund (TSIF).

This fund is to help towards the cost of QCF and NVQ training.

Care Learning is again managing a share of this national fund for adult social care voluntary and independent sector employers including micro-employers and direct employers (people who employ their own care and support staff).

Care Learning only distributes this fund in the West of England area (Bristol, Bath & Nth East Somerset, Sth Gloucestershire and Nth Somerset) and Gloucestershire to claim when their staff achieve specified training.

The Workforce Development Fund must not be used in conjunction with other publicly provided funding streams to ‘double fund’ the same outcomes.

Guidance Notes

Please read these guidance notes carefully before you complete and submit an application.

1. Do not wait to claim. Claim as soon as you have the appropriate unit evidence. You should claim as each unit or group of units are completed. You do not have to wait to achieve a whole qualification. You can make more than one application during the financial year

2. You can only claim for eligible units that have the correct evidence and dated between 1 January 2011 and 16 March 2012 for QCF Units and between 1 January 2011 and 30 September 2011 for NVQ units.  Evidence must clearly show this.

3. You must have FULLY completed the National Minimum Data Set for Social Care (NMDS-SC) - both the establishment part and the worker section and/or updated records after 1 April 2011. You must provide your NMDS-SC reference number on this application.

4. If your organisation has more than one registered address you must make an application for each registered address, providing the NMDS-SC reference number for that address. Please ensure that the member of staff you are claiming WDF works at the registered address on this claim form.

5. If you miss anything out, or provide incorrect or inappropriate evidence the whole application may be rejected.

6. Deadlines for last applications:

NVQ: Friday 21 October 2011

QCF: Friday 16 March 2012

No application can be accepted after these dates. Please do not leave applications to the last minute! Funding is given on a first come-first-served basis subject to our equitable distribution policy and relevant criteria. Correct applications received early are more likely to be successful than applications received nearer to the deadlines.  We cannot guarantee the success of any application submitted.
