This event focused on quality workforce development and high profile and engaging speakers provided news, information and raised essential issues to consider when planning your future business and workforce to meet the demands of the future. will highlight the support available to you and look at some new tools and resources to help you with managing change.
We took a close look at the new Health & Social Care Diploma qualifications and the funding streams available to you. CQC provided further advice and guidance on compliance, in particular in relation to workforce development.
There was an opportunity to meet a wide range of training providers to discuss workforce training and development needs to meet National Minimum Standards and other learning opportunities. There was also other trade stands offering a range of services to the social acre sector.
Keynoter Speaker: Carolyn Denne - Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)
Carolyn Denne. Carolyn moved to the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) in July 2010 to become Head of Service Quality from her role in the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as Chief of Staff to Cynthia Bower, Chief Executive.
In her current role, she leads work on dementia – including SCIE’s popular Dementia Gateway – end of life care, older people’s strategy and prevention. She led SCIE’s work to define excellence in regulated care settings, commissioned by CQC who are now consulting on the definition as a key element of their new excellence award to replace quality ratings. She is also working with NICE on Quality Standards.
Carolyn is a social worker, with 30 years experience in local government, social care and the NHS. Building upon her early days working in acute hospital and residential settings and in community social work practice with older people, her career spans practice, policy development, performance and quality, commissioning and planning in local and national government and in regulation. She contributed to the establishment of CQC. Carolyn is passionate about the role that personalised social care can play in enabling individuals to achieve their potential and live the best possible life for them.
